Mayrapetyan destroyed me with the building - resident (video)
Julieta Gyulnashyan, a former resident of a two-storey building at 4 Pushkin str. that has been recognized by the government as ‘prevailing public need,' today came to destroy the roof and walls of the building and ‘use the material for her personal needs.’ “The building housed a museum. Then, one day, I receive a telephone call saying that Mayrapetyan was pulling down the building,” she said adding she had come to take away what was left of her home. “Mayrapetyan destroyed not only my house, but also me,” Julieta Gyulnashyan said. The woman says she has permission to demolish the building, but a representative of the district council showed up and advised her not to take any step without proper authorization from the municipality. Another resident of the same building, who did not want to give her name, said Mrs. Julieta had received her share of money and moved to another building: now she only wanted to harm others. The territory, which was purchased by the Local Developers Company owned by businessman Samvel Mayrapetyan, is one of tourist attractions in the centre of Yerevan which takes tourists to the underground wine cellar belonging to the Tairov family. The cellars in their basements on Pushkin Street were opened in the 19th century and have over 180 years of history.
