Poet and translator Davit Hovhannes dies at 71
Davit Hovhannes, an Armenian writer, translator, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, died this morning at the age of 71. Davit Hovhannes was born in Yerevan on February 17, 1945. Being a graduate of the Faculty of Philology of Yerevan State University, Hovhannes started writing in early adulthood. He lectured in a number of educational institutions in Armenia. He became a member of the Writers’ Union of Armenia in 1975.
