“Sasna Tsrer” member promises to support his neighbors from the prison (video)
After the events of “Sasna Tsrer” the door of the arrested Vardan Geravetyan hasn’t stayed broken. During the search, the policemen broke the door, but Vardan’s neighbors fixed it by their own means. “They had wholly broken it removing the iron rod and breaking the lock, we’ve fixed the iron rod again,” Vardan Gabrielyan, who is one of the neighbors of Vardan Geravetyan, told “A1+”. Vardan Geravetyan, leader of “Our City” project has been in custody for about three months. During all this period his neighbors don’t forget him, they regularly try to receive information and support him with food. Vardan’s neighbors cannot pass near his door indifferently. “The door of this house was open from day to night, even at night people entered, discussed questions and found solutions,” says the neighbor. Vardan Geravetyan lives in Teryan 23 street which has been recognized an eminent domain. By the Government decision, the flats of Teryan 23, 25 and Lalayants 37 Streets were alienated to businessman Samvel Mayrapetyan. The courts have also made decisions to alienate the flats from these residents. Thanks to Vardan Geravetya’s 10 years stubborn struggle the buildings are still standing. Vardan’s neighbors are ready to continue the struggle of “Our City” project’s leader not allowing the demolition of the old buildings. “We’ll not leave our homes, because this building is a firm, earthquake resistant building; they may tile it, if Mayrapetyan wishes he can add another two floors to the building. We are timeless hostages here living on the volcano. Imagine that this situation has been going on for ten years, we can’t stand this anymore, how they can treat people like that,” adds Meline Navasardyan.
