“There are two leading forces in Charentsavan (a town in Kotayk marz) – the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) and Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK),” Republican lawmaker Vardan Ayvazyan, who stands as a candidate in this constituency in the April 2 parliamentary elections by the ranked voting system, said on March 1. “Whether we like it or not, this is how matters stand there. A political figure will be a fool to ignore this fact,” Mr Ayvazyan said adding that they drew to the conclusion during their surveys and meetings with voters. The results show that the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun and Free Democrats also have chances in this constituency. The lawmaker considers variances between candidates to be natural. “For many years, people thought this constituency belonged to a particular person and now four electoral districts have merged and, naturally, everyone wants to be a leader,” the lawmaker said.
