500 Yazidis took part in the liberation of Shushi, but they didn’t participate separately, but together with Armenian battalions. Boris Murazi, Chairman of Sinjar Yazidis National Union, says that there isn’t a need to differentiate Armenians and Yazidis, “What is the meaning of differentiating? We are also citizens of Armenia, the RA blue passport unites us. We have the title of the RA citizen and are considered to be citizens.” According to his words, Yazidis had active participation in the fight, it speaks of their being citizens, as well as that they consider this state to be theirs. Yazidis had active participation in April War. “If different groups in different countries look for ways to escape from the processes in those countries and avoid military service, Yazidis doesn’t look for such ways. They consider participation in defending the borders of Armenia to be important,” said Chairman of “Sinjar Yazidis National Union” NGO. Touching upon upcoming Council of Elders elections, Boris Murazi noted that Yazidis call on everybody to actively take part in them, “We don’t call on them which political force to elect, but we call on them to be active and after elections to carry out civil control. They should be consistent so that the political forces for which they voted be responsible and carry out those promises,” summed up Boris Murazi.
