Lawyer Tigran Atanesyan reports that the investigator in the case of Ara Oskanian, the son of Armenia’s former Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian, has discontinued the criminal proceedings due to absence of corpus delicti. Ara Oskanian, 33, and Hrant Seradaryan, 25, were arrested in February 2017 on charges of kidnapping a man who allegedly owed Oskanian AMD 1.5 million. According to a statement released by the Investigative Committee, Oskanian and Seradaryan confronted Berberyan on February 16 in Yerevan and demanded payment. The two then forced him into a car and drove to the town of Abovyan, where they threatened to beat him if he didn’t pay the sum. Berberyan filed a complaint against the two alleged kidnappers.
