Gagik Manasyan: They did not invite Arzumanyan from deserts for nothing
Gagik Manasyan, one of the two candidates who pretended to become director of the Alexander Spendiarian Armenian Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre, knew that his contender Andranik Arzumanyan would head the Theatre 15 days ago. Arzumanyan arrived in Armenia from Egypt. “Culture Minister Hasmik Poghosyan and head of the CIS Interstate Fund Armen Smbatyan supported his [Arzumanyan’s] candidacy. They invited Arzumanyan from Egyptian deserts and could not simply leave him without job,” says Manasyan, Head of the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra. He stated that he was in high spirits and was not upset. “It would be an honor for me to head the Opera and Ballet Theatre,” he said.
