APARTMENT PRICES FALL IN YEREVAN

As of October 2008, there were 14,550 real estate deals in Armenia. This number has gone down by 9.1% compared to October 2007, while the number of houses sold rose by 10.0% in September 2008.

DIED 40 DAYS AGO

Today Karen Harutyunyan appeared before the police and confessed his participation in a group attack on journalist Edik Baghdasaryan, President of the Investigative Journalists NGO, on November 14 of this year.

FLOUR PRICE GOES DOWN, BUT DOESN’T AFFECT PASTRY

Despite official data according to which the price of flour has gone down by a minimum 22%, it hasn’t affected prices for buns and pastry. Based on the results of the monitoring conducted by the State Economic Competition Protection Commission, a reduction in bread and flour prices was registered in mid-October.

PACK OF WOLVES IN KARMIR VILLAGE

On November 24 resident of the Karmir village of the Gegharkunik Marz A. Avdalyan informed that a pack of wolves had attacked a horse tied in the yard of his home on November 21 at around 5 a.m.

EREBUNI WILL HAVE NO WATER

Water delivery will be terminated in the quarters of Erebuni, Aresh, Vardashen, Gajegortsner, Nubarasahen from 10 p.m. to 5 p.m., November 25.

CAR ON FIRE

NOT AN EXTERMINATING LIQUID

On October 30 the “LoriWaterSewer” CJSC and the Lori province division of the Environmental Protection state department received a call that an unknown red liquid was being poured into the Pambak River. It turned out that the red liquid was actually red paint which somebody had carelessly poured into the river.

DEAD BODY FOUND

A fire broke out on November 20 at 4:36 in the 4th apartment of the 22nd building located on the 11th street of Nubarashen district in Yerevan. Two firefighter crews left for the scene and the fire was put out at 5:28 a.m.

Today a group of Armenian journalists, representatives of NGOs and students of YSU Faculty of Journalism staged a protest action against unpunished attacks against journalists, in particular the recent assault on the President of Investigative Journalists' Association Edik Baghdasaryan.

STATEMENT

In the evening of November 17, 2008 in Yerevan Edik Baghdasarian, the Chairman of “Investigative Journalists” NGO, the Chief Editor of “Hetq” online publication, was assaulted and beaten. The journalist had a brain concussion, and several seams were put on his head at “Surb Grigor Lusavorich” medical center.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS TO WORK AFTER CONSTRUCTION

The traffic lights for pedestrians on the Khanjyan-Nalbandyan and Khanjyan-Sayat Nova streets are not working and confuse pedestrians because they can only cross the street after seeing the red light. Police are investigating to find out who attacked head of the “Investigative Journalists” NGO, journalist Edik Baghdasaryan.

AFTER THE FIRES

A fire broke out on November 17 at the home on 1/39 Manukyan street of Kapan leaving the 42 square meter surface area of a cattle-farm completely burned down.
