1.5 MILLION FLOWERS IN MEMORY OF 1.5 MILLION VICTIMS

April 24, 1915 became one of the most tragic days in the history of Armenians and the entire humanity. More than 1.5 million Armenians fell victim to the disastrous plan of the Ottoman Empire. About 800 thousand Armenians managed to survive by migrating and taking refuge in Eastern Armenia and other corners of the world.

EXPLOSION

At least two passengers were injured at Yerevan’s Northern station when a minibus caught fire after its compressed gas fuel tank exploded at 1.50 p.m. April 22.

CORPSE FOUND IN SEVAN

A woman's body was found near Chkalovka village, two meters away from the beach at 3.10, April 20. At 3.25 rescuers took the body of a 60-65-year-old woman out of the water.

TRADESPEOPLE COMPLAIN OF INCREASED CUSTOMS DUTY

Tradespeople of “Airarat,” “Hrazdan,” “Bangladesh” and “Firdusi” fairs gathered in front of the RA Government today to complain of the increased customs duty. They blame the newly-appointed Prime Minister of the increased dues.

EARTHQUAKE IN GARNI

A 3.3-magnitude earthquake was reported 14 km east of Garni village at 08.13, April 18. The earthquake was perceived in Nor-Nork district, RA Yerevan, National Seismic Center reports.

Students of Yerevan State Pedagogical University (YSPU) should be on the alert lest they should be knocked down in front of the building. We are already sick and tired of this mess. We have been walking amid dust and dirt for already a year.

ONE MORE VICTIM

Armenian serviceman Tigran Abgarian, 19, wounded during the March 1 events, died at the “Mikayelian” medical centre a few hours ago. The doctors had done their best to save the boy who had gunshot wounds in the neck, near the cervical vertebra.

JUDGEMENT TO BE PRONOUNCED ON APRIL 14

The Appellate Court is due to pronounce a judgement on GALA TV Company at 2:00, April 14. Today the Court held a hearing on the case. The chief executive of the TV Company, Karine Harutiunian, informed A1+ that the proceedings had been held without “major” incidents.

FIRE

At 00:15, April 10 a grass fire was reported in the village of Karmrashen, Vayk. 400 ha grass belonging to Verjanush Gh., 1940, burnt down as a result.

GAS POISONING

At 07.40, 11 April, Mariam Nushkian, 22, Ani Hakobian, 17, and Lilia Hakobian, 18, residents of Gyumri, were taken to the Austrian children’s hospital of Gyumri with gas poisoning.

FIRE

A 40-square meter cottage burnt down in the result of a fire broken out in the village of Vardinadzor, Syunik marz, on April 4.

REQUIEM IN REMEMBRANCE OF MARCH 1 VICTIMS

In remembrance of March 1 victims a requiem will be organized in major churches and in Holy See of Echmiadzin on April 6

“RF BEARS RESPONSIBILITY”

Today four representatives of the Conservative Party staged a protest action at the Russian Embassy with a single poster, “Silent agreement can’t be justified”. The reason for the demonstration was the recent meeting of Serzh Sarkissian and Vladimir Putin during which the Armenian PM had thanked the RF President for assistance to Armenia’s pre-election period.

SIX YEARS LATER: A1+ STILL OFF AIR

Six years ago, on April 2, 2002, Armenia's leading television station went off the air after the government refused to renew its broadcast license in a tender held in Armenian for the first time.

ROOF ON FIRE

A fire was reported at secondary school No 1 on 3 Levon Bek Str., Berd town, at 7:00 p.m. on April 1.

EARTHQUAKE IN JAVAKHKETI

A 3.6-magnitude earthquake was felt in Javakhketi (Javakhk) at 12.59 on April 1. The epicentre of the 4-5 magnitude quake was 14 km north to Akhalkalaki, the RA National Seismic Services informed A1+.

WHO IS PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA TODAY?

In reply to A1+’s question, people either laughed or took it as an April Fool’s Day joke. Therefore most of them gave ridiculous answers. It turns out that some of our respondents do not know who Armenia’s President is.

SNAKE BITE

On March 31, at 8:25 local time, Vera Harutiunian, 1949, a resident of Areni village, Vayots Dzor, was taken to a Eghegnadzor hospital with a snake bite.

PRICES OF GARMENTS WENT UP

After the presidential elections prices of garments have significantly increased. Vendors state the reasons for the increase are high custom taxes.
