FIRE IN THE SUBWAY
One of the clothes stands on the crossroad of Abovyan and Koryun streets was on fire early in the morning. At about 09:13 a.m. today it had burnt to ashes. The stand belonged to “Kraus” ltd. According to the Emergency Administration, the fire was put out at 09:41 a.m. Only part of the clothes had burnt.

CATTLE BURNT BECAUSE OF THE FIRE
A fire broke out in the village of Astghadzor, Gegharqouniq Marz, at about 2:25 a.m. on December 12. Two fire brigades immediately arrived on the scene. The stable and 50-square granary belonging to K. Grigoryan burnt to ashes.

REDUCE EXPENSES IN ORDER TO REDUCE POVERTY
Poverty has been reduced in Armenia: only one third of the population is below the poverty threshold. This is the conclusion of sociologist Aharon Adibekyan drawn as a result of investigations. According to him, it is conditioned by two factors, «More jobs are created, and those who work abroad, send money to Armenia».

SELF-ARSON OPPOSITE THE PRESIDENT'S RESIDENCE
Early in the morning four representatives of the Yezidi community of the village of Lchashen burnt themselves with petrol opposite the RA President's residence. A fire brigade and an ambulance car arrived at the site and took the victims to hospital.

Every year, on December 7, all the Armenians in different sides of the world recall what happened in the year 1988. At 11:41 a.m. 40% of the territory of Armenia turned into a disaster zone. The fortitude of the earthquake in the epicenter which included the city of Spitak and its 12 villages was 10 degrees. 21 towns and 342 villages suffered from the earthquake. 514 thousand people were left shelterless.

SPITAK IS STILL A DISASTER ZONE
18 years after the disastrous earthquake, the city of Spitak is still considered a disaster zone. «The loss was too grave.
