19-year old Armenian football player Edgar Manoucharyan will continue playing with FC Ajax from Amsterdam which he joined in summer of 2005. Manoucharyan’s knee has recently been operated on. He will return to the field at the beginning of July and start to prepare for the coming championship of the country.

Soon Chess World Olympiad will be held in Turin during which the session of the FIDE will be convened. Alongside with other issues, the members of the FIDE will elect a new president. The main candidate of the post is Kirsan Ilyumjinov, current president of the FIDE whose rival is Dutch Vesen Coc.

Chess World Championship of girls and boys under 20 will be held in the chess house after Tigran Petrosyan on October 2 - 17, 2006. The Championship will comprise of 13 rounds and will be held according Swiss contest rules and criteria.

Armenian boxers won two medals in the international box tournament held in the Czech Republic. Andranik Hakobyan (74 kg) won a gold medal, and Hovhannes Danielyan (48kg) won a bronze medal. On the whole, 6 Armenian sportsmen participated in the tournament.

The Wrestling European men and women championship will be held in Moscow on April 23. At first women will meet each other and then men in free style contest and finally the Greek - Roman meeting will be held.

Armenian unarmed self-defense team won two medals in the European Adult Championship held in Serbia. Ashot Danielyan won silver medal in 74kg weight category, and David Khachatryan won bronze medal in 68kg weight category.

The international traditional wushu tournament devoted to “Old Shengavit” will be held in “Dinamo” sports ground on April 21 - 22. The tournament is held for the 3rd time. About 100 representatives from Georgia, Nagorno - Karabakh, Kazakhstan and Armenia will participate in the 2006 tournament.

Henk Visman who was recently resigned from the post of the chief coach of the National Football team of Armenia and «Pyunik», left for his homeland yesterday. Before that he tried to create a scandal in the Armenian Football Federation.
