For a long time Edgar Manoucharian, a rising Armenian football star playing for Ajax of Amsterdam, couldn’t score for the Armenian national team. Moreover, he has rarely been recruited to the national team due to constant injuries. Manoucharian kicked his only goal three years ago in an informal game with Macedonia.
ROMIK KHACHATRIAN TO PLAY IN BANANTS
Under a recent contract the halfback of the Armenian football team Romik Khachatrian will soon be transferred to Banants. Khachatrian informed A1+ that he has already expressed readiness to move to the Armenian team from APOP of Cyprus.

The 17th Amber-2008 Blindfold and Rapid Tournament drew to an end in Nice, France. Before the final 11th round, Armenian GM Levon Aronian had already secured victory leaving his contenders behind. In the 10th round he drew both blindfold and rapid games against Peter Leko to finish on 14,5 points.

Armenian GM levon Aronian is still in sole lead ahead of the final round of the “Amber-2008” Blindfold and Rapid Chess Tournament held in Nice, France. The Armenian GM tied with Vladimir Kramnik 1:1 both in the blindfold and rapid games.

He won the blindfold and rapid games thus securing a winner’s title. World champion Viswanathan Anand lost to Vasili Ivanchuk of Ukraine 0.5:1.5.
HAKOBYAN SIGNS ONE-YEAR CONTRACT
The half-back of the Armenian football team Aram Hakobyan has signed a one-year contract with “Volga” of Ulianovsk. The 28-year-old footballer told A1+ that he might leave the Russian team in summer as the contract is signed by the principle “6 months + 6 months.”
